U.S. Department of State spokesperson Heather Nauert highlighted Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s visit to Brussels, Belgium where he discussed preparations as Belgium joins the United Nations Security Council.
“Secretary Pompeo met with Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel today in Brussels,” Nauert said in a statement Tuesday. “They discussed ways the U.S. and Belgium can cooperate on matters of global security as Belgium prepares to join the UN Security Council next month.”
Secretary Pompeo welcomed Belgium’s recent decision to purchase 34 F-35 aircraft, guaranteeing our 40-year air relationship will continue for another generation and that Belgium will continue to be a premier air contributor within NATO.
