Mike Pence delivers remarks Monday at the lying in state of former President George H.W. Bush.
Bush’s body will remain in the Capitol Rotunda until Wednesday as is customary in honor of passing former presidents.
Pence will make his remarks at an arrival ceremony scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. EST. Following the ceremony, the public will be invited to pay their respects from 7:30 p.m. Wednesday until 7:00 a.m. Wednesday.
President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will attend the funeral to be held Wednesday at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
Bush will then be flown back to Texas where another funeral service will be held, then, he will be moved by train to his final resting place on the grounds of his presidential library at Texas A&M. He will be buried next to his wife Barbara and daughter Robin.
Government offices will be closed Wednesday, December 5th, as a sign of respect for the former president.
