President Donald Trump spoke with reporters about the border wall and government shutdown negotiations upon returning to the White House after a day of meetings at Camp David with senior staff.
“We’ve been in touch with a lot of people and I informed my folks to say that we’ll build a steel barrier, steel, that it will be made out of steel, that it will be less obtrusive and stronger,” Trump told reporters. “They [Democrats] don’t like concrete so we’ll give them steel.”
“We’re looking at a national emergency because we have a national emergency,” he added. “We have a crisis at the border of drugs of human beings being trafficked all over the world… and criminals and gang members coming through.”
