Amy Klobuchar Announces Run For President

Minnesota Democrat Senator Amy Klobuchar has joined the crowded field of Democrat Presidential candidates as the primary season gets closer. She joins Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Maryland Congressman John Delaney, California Senator Kamala Harris, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, and South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg who have all announced they will seek the Democratic Party’s nomination to face off against President Donald Trump and former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz.

Klobuchar made headlines attempting to paint Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh as an alcoholic rapist who shouldn’t be on the bench. She also attacked Attorney General nominee William Barr.

Amy Klobuchar will have to face a crowded field and an increasingly-left leaning base, and will also have to deal with other candidates who may call her temperament into question.

Senator Klobuchar is known for being very verbally abusive towards staffers and she has the highest staff turnover rate of any Senator in the country.

Buzzfeed reported from former staffers for the Senator.

“That anger regularly left employees in tears, four former staffers said. She yelled, threw papers, and sometimes even hurled objects; one aide was accidentally hit with a flying binder, according to someone who saw it happen, though the staffer said the senator did not intend to hit anyone with the binder when she threw it.

“I cried. I cried, like, all the time,” said one former staffer.

When staffers made mistakes, the emails show, she reamed them out—and sometimes, emails show, threatened to fire them—over threads that included many of their colleagues.”

Klobuchar is more moderate than most of the other candidates. She opposes the calls for abolishing ICE, she has not formally called for the 32 trillion dollar Medicare for All, nor has she formally endorsed the Green New Deal.
