President Donald Trump in his State of the Union address talked about the hardships and the suffering of the Venezuelan people at the hands of the socialist left-wing regime of dictator Nicolas Maduro. The US President said,
“We stand with the Venezuelan people in their noble quest for freedom — and we condemn the brutality of the Maduro regime, whose socialist policies have turned that nation from being the wealthiest in South America into a state of abject poverty and despair,” Trump said Tuesday night.
He expressed alarm over the rise of socialism in the United States while the suffering of the Venezuelan people gets worse. He said, “Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country,” the president said. “America was founded on liberty and independence – not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free.”
“Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country,” Trump said.
Bernie Sanders’ reaction to the comments and the use of Venezuela as a warning to Americans about socialism was a reaction of being visibly shaken.
Venezuela suffered 2 decades under socialism, the wealth makers were taxed out of the country, the oligarchs aligned with the government stole the wealth from Venezuelans, mismanagement, printing money the government didn’t have. Trump has taken an ever more aggressive stand against the rise against the Democrats’ turn to the radical socialist left.
