Update 2: Chicago Police Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said that reports claiming the attack was a hoax are not yet confirmed and everything is being investigated.
Update 1: CBS Chicago’s Brad Edwards is now reporting that the police investigators think that Jussie Smollett and the two “people of interest” were involved in a staged attack.
“Multiple sources have told ABC7 Eyewitness News that police are investigating whether Smollett and the two men staged the attack allegedly because Smollett was being written off of Empire,” according to an ABC-7 report.
Police have raided the home of two persons of interest seizing bleach, shoes, electronics and more and the suspects are Nigerian men who appeared as extras on ‘Empire.’ The two men in left for Nigeria the day of the attack.
CPD sources have told Newsmax’s John Cardillo that the suspects are only being treated as material witnesses to the alleged attack.
The police had the phone records they did a dump on the cellphone tower nearby. They had Jussie Smollett’s phone records the whole time and CPD set up the actor to see if he was lying. Smollett appears to have tampered with evidence.
So far despite the raids, there has not been any evidence to show the attack happened, still, no security camera footage in the most surveilled city in the union has shown this attack happened but his original story has completely collapsed and the indicators are showing that Jussie Smollett fabricated the story of assault.
