William Barr Confirmed as Next Attorney General

William Barr has been confirmed as the next Attorney General.

President Trump’s nominee for Attorney General, William Barr, has been confirmed by the US Senate by a vote of 54-45 with Rand Paul (R-KY) voting no and Democrat Senators Joe Manchin, Kyrsten Sinema, and Doug Jones voting yes.

Barr was sworn in on Thursday afternoon by Chief Justice John Roberts, as he returns to the position he held from 1991 to 1993.

The new Attorney General will be overseeing the controversial Mueller investigation into Trump Russia collusion.

After Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation, embattled Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein began to oversee the Mueller investigation.

Oversight by the Mueller investigation will not be the only issue that Barr will face as Attorney General such as election integrity, enforcing immigration laws, reforming the DOJ after the FISA abuse and Spygate scandal.
