Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney says Democrats will never get to see President Donald Trump’s tax returns, as they continue to push for Trump to release them.
In an interview with Fox News Sunday, Mulvaney said Democrats in Congress will “never” succeed in obtaining Trump’s tax returns, saying “no, never. Nor should they.” Mulvaney mentioned how House Democrats are demanding the IRS hands over Trump’s tax returns, but he said the Democrats know it will never happen.
“Democrats are demanding that the IRS turn over the documents. That is not going to happen, and they know it. This is a political stunt,” Mulvaney continued.
House Democrats said they will be demanding Trump release his tax returns, in early March, ramping up their investigations into the president and allies.
“We’re almost ready to go,” Democratic New Jersey Rep. Bill Pascrell told Politico Tuesday, when asked about Trump’s tax returns.
Democrats have been pushing for the release of Trump’s tax returns since he announced his candidacy for president in 2016, hoping to discover damning information, which would derail his presidency.
This all comes as House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler requested a number of documents from the White House and is sending letters seeking information from people and organizations close to Trump.
