President Donald Trump announced Sunday that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has died following a U.S. military operation overnight.
Before the president’s appearance, the White House said only that his remarks would include a “major statement.”
During his comments, the president said that al-Baghdadi detonated a suicide vest killing himself and three of his children. No U.S. personnel were lost in the operation, according to Trump, but one canine unit was injured.
