Everything You Need for A Portable Office

Working in the 21st century means that you can work from anywhere you want and for as long as you want. Everything is connected and, therefore, easy to move.

Do you want to drink cocktails during the winter? You pack your portable office and move. Do you want to work in the countryside during the busiest days in the city? Or the entire year? No problem, you book a flight, pack your office, and you are ready to work.

Although this sounds easy, in reality, it works slightly different. To be this ready, to move your office in just a few minutes, you need to have your best, most compact, and most durable office gear on hand.

Moreover, you need to have a portable office checklist. If you don’t have one already, use this guide.

Cloud-Based Collaboration Tools

Staying productive on the go is not possible without your data. Let’s face it, we are living in a world of data, information, and storage.

So, having all of your data on hand should be imperative. That being said, be ahead of the potential problem.

What will you do with weak Wi-Fi? Or even worse… What will you do without Wi-Fi? To avoid headache when this happens, have a Plan B and think about cloud-based collaboration tools.

Your industry will affect the list of your cloud-based collaboration tools, but as an essential, you should have: Gmail, Skype, Evernote, and GoToMeeting.

Of course, some tools won’t work at all without Wi-Fi. Therefore, make sure to choose the one that can be functional offline as well. Do your research and prepare well.

Portable Charger

If you want to do your work, you need power. Simply without electricity, you won’t get far. If you want to avoid searching for power outlets in coffee shops and other venues, you need to power-up.

Invest in high-quality and long-endurance portable USB power delivery. Research and invest wisely. Don’t forget – less is more. Therefore, always aspire to have a universal charger so you can quickly charge all of your devices from a single power source.

Pro tip: Always check the country’s jack style.

Portable Office Materials

This may come as a shock in the digital world, but you will need a portable office material, as well. If you don’t need anything but your laptop, it’s okay.

However, if you love to mold things, and use your hands for more than just typing in the keyboard, you will need:

  • Pens
  • Eraser
  • Highlighters – as colorful as possible
  • Sticky notes – the more, the merrier!
  • Paperclips
  • Pencil bag
  • Folder – for important papers

External Speakers

Why wouldn’t you rock your favorite music on speakers, while you are on the go? Having headphones is fine, and they are kind of mandatory, but the best external speakers for a laptop will give you much more.

Once the work is done, you can chill with remote co-workers and spend hours on favorite tunes.

Moreover, you can shake your body when the energy drops down, and even dance until dawn! Furthermore, external speakers are usually light, affordable, easy to carry, deliver great sound, and help you groove through work.

Best Backpack

Ok, this is a no-brainer, but being organized and staying organized matters. Being on the move means that you need to pack often and a lot.

So, make sure that you can pack portable office essentials in one backpack or a handbag/laptop bag (if it’s more practical for you). Always choose the backpack that offers cargo space, it’s waterproof, and has a secret pocket. That means flexibility and safety.

Also, you should think about having portable keyboards, a portable robotic printer, the ultimate flash drive, noise-canceling earbuds or headphones, and a Wi-Fi adapter. Better safe than sorry right? Gear up right.
