ROCHESTER, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) discovered mislabeled products that contained anomalies within the description and a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) public health notification.

On February 28, a shipment was seized that had arrived at the DHL Express Facility in Rochester that was manifested as Sample Royal Jelly. CBP officers who were working commercial inspections then discovered 240 boxes that contained 2,880 sachets of Royal Honey Vitomax-VIP. Unsure of the specific ingredients within the product, a sample was sent to a CBP lab for analysis. A return of the lab results indicated that the products contained Tadalafil, a prescription drug that is used to treat erectile dysfunction. The FDA was then contacted in order to complete a further inspection of the products and a determination was made that the product violated the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act for being adulterated or misbranded.

Seized product banned by the Food and Drug
Administration.

“We continue to work hard to protect the economy and American public from products that misrepresent or otherwise could harm consumers,” stated Port Director, Rochester Ronald Menz. “These undeclared ingredients may cause serious health problems to consumers who are treated for diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease.”

CBP determined that domestic value of the items were valued at approximately $7,200.
