Brownsville CBP Officers Seize $768K in Methamphetamine at Veterans International Bridge

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Veterans International Bridge intercepted a load of alleged methamphetamine, hidden within a 2006 Ford F-150 pick-up.

“This significant seizure illustrates the importance of remaining vigilant and shows the commitment our CBP officers have in keeping these dangerous narcotics off our streets,” said Port Director Tater Ortiz, Brownsville Port of Entry.

Bags containing a total of 38 pounds of methamphetamine
seized by CBP officers at Brownsville Port of Entry.

The seizure took place on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the Veterans International Bridge when a 22-year-old female United States citizen applied for entry into the United States driving a white 2006 Ford F-150 pick-up. The vehicle was referred to CBP secondary for further examination after a primary inspection.  In secondary, with the aid of a non-intrusive imaging system (NII) and a canine unit, CBP officers discovered seven packages which contained a total of 38.44 pounds of alleged methamphetamine.

The estimated street value of the methamphetamine from the seizure is $768,964.

CBP officers seized the narcotics along with the vehicle, arrested the driver and turned her over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.
