The 39 Times House Democrats Have Blocked Coronavirus Assistance

Seventy-nine days ago, Speaker Pelosi said “we can’t go home” without a bipartisan coronavirus deal. A few days later, the House went out of Congressional session for August recess with no deal.

Since then, House Democrats have blocked 39 attempts by Republicans to re-open the Paycheck Protection Program – which has $137.5 billion remaining.

• August 22: Speaker Pelosi calls an “emergency” session – but not to help the American people. It was only about Democrats’ Postal Service conspiracy theories. Democrats block consideration of Small Business Committee Ranking Member Steve Chabot’s legislation (H.R. 8087) to re-open and expand the Paycheck Protection Program.
  
  
• September 23: Democrats block consideration of Small Business Committee Ranking Member Steve Chabot’s legislation (H.R. 8265) to re-open the Paycheck Protection Program.
  
  
• September 30: Democrats block consideration of Small Business Committee Ranking Member Steve Chabot’s legislation (H.R. 8265) to re-open the Paycheck Protection Program.
  
  
• October 1: Democrats block consideration of Small Business Committee Ranking Member Steve Chabot’s legislation (H.R. 8265) to re-open the Paycheck Protection Program.
  
  
• October 1: Democrats block 35 unanimous consent requests from Republicans to bring up H.R. 8265 to re-open the Paycheck Protection Program.

On top of that, Democrats have not joined Republicans in signing Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s (WA-03) discharge petition to bring up Chabot’s legislation.

Democrats, now back in their districts, can’t spin this fact: They’ve have had numerous opportunities to join Republicans to provide support to America’s small businesses and their employees, but they’ve stood with Speaker Pelosi and her liberal wish-list instead.
