After all, if the audience is able to tell the difference between these kind words, and they expect a professional writer to be able to do so as well. With this in mind, there are a few commonly misused words that everyone has to know. By using these birds in the right location, everyone will make a better impression on their audience.

The Common Forms of There, Their, and They’re

These are among the most commonly misused words in the English language. It is important for everyone to make sure they use these words properly because they have very different meanings. In order to tell the difference between these words, some of the most common place to keep in mind include:

  • There: There is used to point out a location or a destination, such as saying, “there is the school.”
  • Their: Their is possessive and is used to indicate ownership of something, such as saying, “their parents.”
  • They’re: They’re is a contraction of the words “they are,” such as saying, “they’re over here.”

Everyone has to make sure that use these words in the proper locations.

The Two Forms of Your and You’re

These two words are commonly confused as well. Even though it is tempting for people to cross over the difference, assuming people are going to be able to understand the meaning, it is important to make sure these words are used in the correct location. The difference is:

  • Your: There is a possessive term, such as saying “your house.”
  • You’re: This is a contraction of the words “you are,” such as saying, “you’re here.”

Make sure that these two terms are used in the correct manner. It is important for everyone to communicate the proper message when they are writing.

Concave and Convex

Concave vs convex are two different types of lenses. They are commonly confused, as people do not know what they mean. A concave lens has an inward cave on one side and is used to scatter light. When light enters a concave lens, it scatters on the other side.

On the other hand, a convex lens bulges outward like a ball. When light enters a convex lens, it converted on the other side. Concave and convex lenses are commonly used to correct vision. Because these two lines that are opposites of each other, it is critical to get them correct.

Use the Right Term

These are a few of the most commonly misused terms. It is important for everyone to make sure they use the right word in the right location. This can have a dramatic impact on the meaning of someone’s writing, so think carefully about which word to use.
