Laredo CBP Officers Seize Narcotics Worth Over $3 Million

LAREDO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers at the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge and World Trade Bridge seized narcotics valued at $3 million in two separate, unrelated enforcement actions.

“These two seizures illustrate the vigilance of our frontline CBP officers and their continuous commitment to interdict illicit narcotics like these that pose a threat to our national security and public health,” said Acting Port Director Andrew Douglas, Laredo Port of Entry.

The first enforcement action occurred on Thursday, November 5th at the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge when CBP officers assigned to the cargo facility encountered a truck hauling a shipment containing a cutting machine arriving from Mexico. The 2020 Nissan NP 300 truck and shipment were referred for a canine and non-intrusive imaging system inspection, resulting in the discovery of 149.12 pounds of alleged methamphetamine discovered within the shipment. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $2,982,382.

The second seizure occurred on Friday, November 6th at the World Trade Bridge when CBP officers assigned to the cargo facility encountered a truck hauling a shipment of leather seat cushions arriving from Mexico. The 2018 Nissan truck and shipment were referred for a canine and non-intrusive imaging system inspection, resulting in the discovery of 600 packages containing 1570.79 pounds of alleged marijuana discovered within the shipment. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $314,155.

The narcotics combined have an estimated street value of $3,296,537.

CBP officers seized the narcotics. The cases were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
