Biden Economy: Jobs Report Misses Expectations by a Mile, Unemployment Rate Ticks Up

The U.S. economy reported an increase of 266,000 jobs in April and the unemployment rate rose to 6.1%, according to Department of Labor data released Friday.

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 266,000 in April, badly missing the one million new jobs expected by economists according to The Wall Street Journal.

The jobs miss is even more unsettling as employers say they are struggling to find workers due to Democrats’ enhanced unemployment benefits that pay people more to sit home than to work.

The jobs miss is one of the worst since the beginning of the pandemic and Democrat-favored lockdowns that destroyed a vibrant economy.

Biden delivered a speech Friday in which he attempted to spin the miss as a win for his administration showing that Democrats’ massive stimulus is working.
