2 House Republicans Introduce Bill to Reverse Biden Vax Mandate

On Thursday, Reps. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) and Jim Banks (R-Ind.) introduced the Health Freedom For All Act in a press release. The bill, if passed, would overturn President Joe Biden’s federal vaccine mandate for private employers, which, according to The Associated Press, is set to affect over 100 million private sector employees, healthcare workers, and federal contractors.

The bill will amend the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to explicitly deny OSHA the authority to mandate vaccination or regular COVID screening of employees. It would also prevent the Secretary of Labor from enacting emergency rules mandating vaccination, and mandate that all requirements pertaining to “vaccine, medication, or medical procedures” be established through the complete federal rulemaking process.

“Joe Biden promised us before he was president that he wouldn’t use his office to mandate COVID vaccines. Now we know he lied. I am proud to introduce the Health Care Freedom for All Act with Rep. Claudia Tenney that would stop this unconstitutional and un-American federal overreach by President Biden,” Banks stated, according to the release.

The bill is likely intended to be performative, as it stands virtually no chance of being signed into law by Biden, who on Sept. 9 announced his intent to direct OSHA to mandate vaccination or weekly COVID tests for all businesses with 100 or more employees.

The move came amid an effort from the left to shift the burden of responsibility for enforcing vaccination standards from the private sector to the public sector — in August, leftists nationwide cheered as New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio mandated that all venues in New York require proof of vaccination from patrons.
