Psaki Drops Sunday Night Tweet Defending Kamala Harris After CNN Reports On ‘Dysfunction’ For VP’s Team

White House press secretary Jen Psaki defended Vice President Kamala Harris in a Sunday night tweet following media speculation about Harris’ relationship with the president.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki defended Vice President Kamala Harris in a Sunday night tweet following media speculation about Harris’ relationship with the president.

“For anyone who needs to hear it. @VP is not only a vital partner to @POTUS but a bold leader who has taken on key, important challenges facing the country—from voting rights to addressing root causes of migration to expanding broadband,” Psaki’s tweet read.

CNN published an article Sunday titled “Exasperation and dysfunction: Inside Kamala Harris’ frustrating start as vice president.” The article described an environment in the White House where Harris is being sidelined as inadequately prepared for her role and Biden’s team watches staff members for signs on disloyalty.

Harris’s senior advisor, Symone Sanders, said it was unfortunate that “some in the media are focused on gossip – not on the results that the President and Vice President have delivered.”

A USA Today/Suffolk University poll found Kamala Harris had a 28% approval rating in early November.

Biden announced in June that Harris would lead the administration’s voting rights efforts, an indication that she may champion the Democrats’ voting reform bill. Seventeen states have passed voting laws in the time since that announcement.
