Cancelled stamp.
Online music streaming service Spotify has removed Neil Young’s entire library of songs after the performer published an online rant about podcaster Joe Rogan.
“They can have Rogan or Young. Not both,” Young, 76, said in an open letter posted to his website on Monday, according to Rolling Stone magazine.
In response, Spotify pulled his music from the service Wednesday.
“We regret Neil’s decision to remove his music from Spotify, but hope to welcome him back soon,” Spotify said in a statement.
The letter took issue with what Neil said was COVID misinformation on Rogan’s show without specifically citing what information on his show was considered by Young to be untrue. Young has since removed the letter without explanation.
In the modern era of cancel culture, “old Neil Young” might be the most infamous for canceling himself.
