It’s now (more) official. Disney is no longer an entertainment company. Mickey Mouse’s house has now finalized its place as a funding channel for far-left activism.
Today, The Walt Disney Company issued a statement firmly against parental rights and in support of sexualizing Florida’s 5-to-8-year-old children.
“Florida’s HB 1557, also know as the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill, should never have passed and should never have been signed into law,” Disney said. “Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts.”
Even if stockholders don’t see this as ‘off-mission’ for the entertainment giant, consumers will.
First, the bill doesn’t say a word about “gay” or who can or cannot say gay. The bill is also titled “Parental Rights in Education” and focuses on keeping sexuality discussions of any persuasion out of the classrooms of Kindergarten to third-grade children. Disney should have read the actual text which they can HERE. But they won’t. They’ve been forced into supporting a false narrative that will certainly cost them park visitors, toy consumers, and moviegoers.
Activism should be left to the activists and entertainment to the entertainers, but for more than a decade, we’ve seen that line get blurred by overzealous, ill-informed, left-leaning celebrities, CEOs, and everything in between. The turn away from logic and truth has made award shows must-miss events, movies into snoozers, and some streaming shows into outright virtue-signaling messes. But they won’t stop, no matter the costs.
If all that doesn’t cause parents to reconsider where or how they spend their hard-earned entertainment dollars, perhaps reading the full text of the Disney statement will.
