Trump Leads Biden In Key Swing State That Helped Decide The 2020 Election: Poll

Former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup for 2024 in the crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania, according to a Wednesday poll.

Trump has a 2-point lead over Biden among registered Pennsylvania voters, and a 1- point favorability advantage, according to a Quinnipiac University survey. The former president also beat Biden among independents in the state, with 48% supporting Trump and 39% supporting the president.

“Biden vs. Trump: same as it ever was, setting up another likely bare-knuckled brawl between the two candidates in Biden’s home state,” Quinnipiac University polling analyst Tim Malloy said in a statement.

In the 2020 general election, Pennsylvania was one of the closest state contests, with Biden beating Trump by only 1.2 points, according to the Department of State’s website.

A mid-September Reuters/Ipsos survey yielded similar results in several key swing states for a 2024 rematch between Trump and Biden. Across Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Trump leads Biden 41% to 35%, with 24% of voters remaining undecided.

For a 2024 Republican primary in Pennsylvania, Trump leads the crowded field by 47 points, followed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 14% and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley at 8%, according to the survey. Former Vice President Mike Pence and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie both garnered 4% support, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy received 2% and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum had 1% each, with all other 2024 hopefuls at less than 1%.

Democratic Sen. Bob Casey is leading Republican David McCormick, who entered the GOP primary race in late September, 50% to 44% for a 2024 matchup, according to the poll. McCormick has a slight 1 point advantage among independents over Casey.

The Quinnipiac University survey polled 1,725 registered Pennsylvania voters between Sept. 28 and Oct. 2 with a margin of error of 2.4%.

Neither Trump nor Biden immediately responded to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.
