Police Called In As Violent Clashes Erupt At UCLA Anti-Israel Protests

Police responded to the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) campus early Wednesday morning as anti-Israel protesters and counter-demonstrators clashed, Reuters reported.

Violence broke out on the campus after pro-Israel protesters attempted to clear the encampment, Reuters reported, citing the school newspaper. The clash resulted in one person being transported away by an ambulance, according to CBS News.

“Horrific acts of violence occurred at the encampment tonight, and we immediately called law enforcement for mutual aid support,” Vice Chancellor Mary Osako said, according to CBS News. “The fire department and medical personnel are on the scene. We are sickened by this senseless violence and it must end.”

Video posted to X by independent journalist Anthony Cabassa showed police separating the groups of protesters after the violence broke out.

Anti-Israel protesters have set up encampments at multiple universities across the country. Police cleared out Hamilton Hall at Columbia University Tuesday night after protesters occupied it that morning.
