Trump Confirms Campaign Booked One Of World’s Most Famous Arenas For Rally In ‘Play’ For Blue State

Former President Donald Trump confirmed Wednesday that he plans to hold a campaign rally at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

The New York Post first reported Tuesday that Trump would rally at the famous arena on Oct. 27. During a Wednesday rally in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Trump said his campaign “just rented Madison Square Garden” and asserted he is pushing to win New York state, though he did not specify a date for the rally.

“We just rented Madison Square Garden … We’re going to make a play for New York. Hasn’t been done in a long time,” Trump said. “It hasn’t been done in many decades … How could New York be run worse than it is, right? With all the problem, everything is corrupt in New York and we’re going to make a play. And let’s see, I mean, I think that you know, the migrants, the migrants have taken over Madison Avenue. They’ve taken over Fifth Avenue, they’ve taken over the parks.”

Trump also expressed his intent to rally at arenas in Atlanta, Georgia, and New Jersey.

“We’re doing arenas because the crowds are so big and we’re making a play for New Jersey. We’re making a play for Virginia, we’re making a play for New York, New Mexico, Minnesota, where this lunatic [Gov. Tim Walz] comes from,” he added. “I’m doing well. And you know why I’m doing well in Minnesota? Because he’s running … It’s supposed to be the opposite way, right?”

The former president in May held a rally in the Bronx, New York, which is a largely Democratic and Hispanic area, with thousands reportedly attending. Trump also held a rally in Uniondale, New York, in September. CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten said on July 11, shortly before Vice President Kamala Harris launched her presidential campaign, that he thought Trump could compete with President Joe Biden in reliably Democratic states, including New York.

Harris is currently leading Trump by 13.5% in New York, according to the RealClearPolling average. The vice president and former president are running neck and neck across the top seven battleground states, with Trump currently leading in five of them, according to the RealClearPolling averages.

CNN panelists on Wednesday said Democrats are worried about Harris’ prospects against Trump in November amid their tight race.

“Certainly some anxiety and nerves setting in as election day gets closer and those polls just remain deadlocked,” CNN correspondent Priscilla Alvarez said.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
