Hunter Biden is expected to permanently lose his license to practice law in Washington, D.C.
Biden, who was pardoned by his father in December 2024 after being convicted on federal gun charges and pleading guilty to tax charges, wrote in an affidavit filed with the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals under seal on Tuesday that he would “consent to disbarment,” the New York Post reported on Tuesday.
Hunter Biden’s license was initially suspended in June 2024 after a Delaware jury convicted him on three felony charges related to his purchase of a revolver while addicted to drugs. The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals order suspending his license noted the offenses were “serious crimes as defined by D.C. Bar Rule XI.”
Former President Joe Biden issued a sweeping pardon to his son in December, though he previously promised that he would not, which covered all crimes he may have committed since 2014. He also pardoned his brothers and several other family members minutes before Trump’s inauguration.
President Donald Trump pardoned Devon Archer, Hunter Biden’s former business partner, who was facing prison time for helping defraud a Native American tribe through fraudulent bonds.
“I think he was treated very unfairly,” Trump said. “And I looked at the records, studied the records, and he was a victim of a crime, as far as I’m concerned.”
Hunter Biden’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment.
