ICE arrests 20 illegal aliens during worksite inspection in New Jersey

NEWARK, N.J. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 20 illegal aliens July 8 during a joint worksite compliance inspection at Alba Wines and Spirits Warehousing and Distribution in Edison, New Jersey.

More than 100 individuals were encountered during the customs compliance inspection led by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and ICE Newark. Twenty of the individuals were identified as illegal aliens, natives from multiple South American countries, and five of those aliens were issued final orders of removal by an immigration judge.

CBP is authorized to conduct unannounced inspections of customs freight stations and bonded warehouses to ensure that the facility is adhering to CBP protocols for the importation of cargo entering the United States. ICE Homeland Security Investigations conducts worksite enforcement across the nation to ensure businesses are following immigration and employment laws.

During worksite inspections, any alien determined to be in violation of U.S. immigration laws may be subject to arrest, detention, and, if removal by final order, removal from the United States.
