Iranian Group Reportedly Offers $40 Million Bounty On Trump For ‘Cause Of Allah’

An Iranian group promoted on state-backed television claims to have raised more than $40 million as a reward for President Donald Trump’s murder, according to a new report.

The “Blood Covenant” movement is offering the cash to anyone who kills Trump “in the cause of Allah” to retaliate for recent American and Israeli military strikes on Iran, the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) reported Wednesday, citing its own translations of the movement’s website. The U.S. government has repeatedly linked alleged assassination plots against Trump to Iran, and the Islamic regime’s religious leaders are reportedly issuing commands for supporters to take the president’s life.

The state-backed Iranian television station Fars News Agency broadcasted an official statement from the Blood Covenant movement, highlighting it as an effort to “defend” Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, MEMRI reported.

The think tank said a Muslim scholar also promoted the fundraising campaign on another state-backed outlet on July 3. “This is a religious obligation incumbent upon every Muslim,” the scholar said, according to MEMRI.

“We operate in a heightened and very dynamic threat environment and the safety and security of the President and all of our protectees remains our highest priority,” a Secret Service official told the Daily Caller News Foundation in response to the Blood Covenant threat. “To preserve operational integrity, we cannot comment on specific protective intelligence matters. However, our teams work around the clock with international, federal, state, and local partners to ensure the highest levels of protection.”

The Pentagon declined to comment.

Trump decided to bomb Iran’s nuclear sites on the night of June 21 following years of assurances from the president that Tehran could not be allowed to develop nuclear capabilities. Trump announced two days later that Iran had agreed to a ceasefire with Israel after the countries exchanged strikes for nearly two weeks in June.

Federal prosecutors charged three people in November for allegedly plotting to kill Trump on behalf of Iran, one of multiple assassination plots against the president linked to the Islamic Republic. One of Iran’s grand ayatollahs issued a fatwa — an Islamic legal ruling — calling for Trump’s death after the June nuclear site bombings, according to multiple watchdog groups.

“Threatening any American, not least President Trump, is extremely unwise,” a State Department spokesperson told the DCNF.
