Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth christened his conference room in the halls of the Pentagon with the names of three iconic American presidents, the Pentagon exclusively told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Hegseth’s conference room in the halls of the Office of the Secretary of Defense formerly named “SD inner,” will be called the “WAR Room,” paying homage to U.S. presidents George Washington, John Adams, and Theodore Roosevelt, the Pentagon told the DCNF. The renaming follows a string of moves from Hegseth to revive patriotic and traditional symbols of the military, including the renaming of bases to their original Confederate names and reinstalling statues taken down under the Biden administration.
“It’s not just a name change—it’s a statement,” a senior defense official with knowledge of the decision told the DCNF. “This is about breaking through the mush-headed political correctness that’s deadened our fighting spirit. Secretary Hegseth restores base names and resurrects the Moses Ezekiel monument at Arlington, this christening of the WAR Room signals that lethality—not softness—is back in command.”
Hegseth moved to restore the Confederate Memorial monument in Arlington National Cemetery in early August, which commemorates the confederate soldiers who lost their lives in the Civil War and the spirit of reconciliation after the nation was divided. The monument was originally removed under former President Joe Biden in 2023.
Moreover, Hegseth also restored the names of Fort Bragg and Fort Benning after former President Joe Biden changed their names due to their prior Confederate associations. The forts now honor two American war veterans instead of Confederate Generals who bore the same surnames.
President Donald Trump also moved to restore multiple Army bases to restore their Confederate names, which were well-known and cherished among the Armed Forces.
The Pentagon under Hegseth has made a broader push to remove many of the left-wing initiatives and personnel from the Armed Forces.
