Woman Assaults DC Cop — But Immediately Lives To Regret It

A woman who assaulted a Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officer faced immediate consequences as seen on a video posted on X Wednesday.

President Donald Trump announced the deployment of the National Guard and declared a federal takeover of the MPD to combat crime in the district Monday, just days after Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer Edward Coristine, known by the moniker “Big Balls,” was severely injured when he intervened to prevent a carjacking. The video, initially posted by Right Angle News Network, shows the woman running up to the MPD officer and appearing to punch him.

Almost immediately, another officer shoved the suspect into a car and started taking her into custody. Bystanders approached as at least one other officer told people to “Back off!”

Earlier, United States Attorney Jeanine Pirro of the District of Columbia warned in a post on X that those who assaulted cops would be charged, mentioning one person who was arrested after throwing a Subway sandwich at an officer.

“The president’s message to the criminals was, ‘If you spit, we hit,’” Pirro said in the video. “Well, we didn’t quite do that the other night when an individual went up to one of the federal law enforcement officers and started jumping up and down, screaming at him, berating him, yelling at him.”

“And then he took a Subway sandwich … and took it and threw it at the officer. He thought it was funny,” Pirro continued. “Well, he doesn’t think it’s funny today because we charged him with a felony, assault on a police officer.”

An intern for Republican Rep. Ron Estes of Kansas, Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, was fatally shot on June 30. Two employees of the Israeli Embassy were killed in a May shooting allegedly carried out by a pro-Hamas activist, while Democratic Rep. Angie Craig of Minnesota was assaulted in her apartment in February 2023.

Despite claims from Democrats that violent crime has declined by roughly one-third, MPD data on such incidents reportedly excludes cases of aggravated assault and felony assault, even though Washington laws characterize those offenses as violent. A high-ranking MPD official, Michael Pulliam, was suspended over allegations regarding the manipulation of crime data, NBC Washington reported.

Pirro did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
