Blessed Be the Peacemakers

According to Google and AI, “Blessed are the peacemakers” is a biblical quote from the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:9, meaning that those who actively work to create peace will be called the children of God. This is distinct from being a “peacekeeper,” who merely maintains a fragile status quo. Peacemakers actively resolve conflict by bringing people to reconcile with God and with each other.

President Donald Trump will undoubtedly be considered the greatest peacemaker in our history. In nine months, he has intervened and brought to a peaceful conclusion, not one or two conflicts, but eight situations that have been boiling over and impacting entire regions for years, if not decades. There is only one active battle remaining to be resolved, between Russia and Ukraine, and it is but a matter of time before he brings sense to the senseless loss of blood and treasure. It is estimated that there are as many as 7,000 combined fatalities per week.

Trump was in Israel, where he and his negotiation team received accolades from the Israeli government. Trump is the face of these negotiations and receives praise from leaders worldwide, but his most outstanding achievement was putting the right people in place to do the challenging work. His four key players are Steve Witkoff, Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth, and Jared Kushner. Witkoff and Rubio have been traveling from hot spot to hot spot for nearly a year, and these two men should get some consideration for the Nobel Peace Prize.

It is amazing how the so-called political experts, Obama, Hillary, and Joe, all got Trump wrong. They had him pegged as a war monger who would light up the world with his erratic behavior and lack of diplomatic skill. He has done quite the opposite. Yes, he has rebuilt and renamed our military to be the most feared fighting force in the world, and he has shown that he will use our advanced weaponry when needed. Just ask Iran and anyone near its nuclear facilities when the bunker busters landed. But it is the perceived strength he is using to bring about peace through strength. This man wants peace and hates war and the senseless loss of life. He has managed to do what a dozen modern-day presidents failed to do, because he was able to look at a problem and work backwards to a solution. He can build a coalition of countries to back his plan, where others would never venture to go. Trump is not only a unique individual, but he is also the right person for this time.

We are not at the finish line yet in the Middle East, far from it. We are not dealing with men of honor with Hamas, and there will probably be more fighting before a lasting peace is found, but if so, it will be quick and decisive. Hamas will pay a heavy price should they muddy the subsequent phases of this agreement.

It was embarrassing to hear the comments from former Secretary of State Blinken when he tried to take credit for the Middle East Deal. Blinken and the rest of Biden’s DEI Team were weak and ineffective at their jobs. For Blinken to even suggest his team laid the foundation for this peace deal reinforces how lucky we are that Trump is driving this bus and not the hapless Kamala and her band of misfits.
