An 18-year-old student in Indiana admitted to plotting a Valentine’s Day massacre after federal agents traced violent online threats back to her social media accounts.
Trinity Shockley, a Mooresville High School student who identifies as a transgender male, filed a plea agreement on Monday after being charged with conspiracy to commit murder and felony intimidation for plotting a “Parkland part two” attack. Authorities launched the probe after an FBI tipster reported that a friend planned to open fire at school and had access to an AR-15 rifle, according to the arrest affidavit.
Messages on Snapchat and Discord showed Shockley discussing tactical gear and sharing photos of ammunition magazines. Police searching Shockley’s bedroom discovered a “shrine” dedicated to mass shooters, including Nicholas Cruz and Dylann Roof.
Officers seized notebooks filled with violent imagery, swastikas, and phrases such as “I hate you all DIE DIE DIE,” along with a heart-shaped locket containing Cruz’s picture. Shockley allegedly told a counselor she had written love letters to Cruz and wanted to be his “number one fan.”
Investigators also found several AR-15 magazines, a box of .40-caliber rounds (50) and a soft armor vest in a room belonging to Shockley’s father Timothy Shockley. A school mental-health coordinator said the district had records showing Shockley sought help going back to her freshman year and self-enrolled in services after turning 18.
She later claimed the attention from police made her reconsider the plan. Court documents said Shockley endured bullying and long-term brain injuries from a 2022 car crash. School officials said she had sought counseling since freshman year but was denied treatment by her father until recently turning 18.
Shockley was taken into custody without incident on Feb. 12, 2025. Authorities requested no bond for Shockley, who has been barred from returning to Mooresville High School as the investigation continues.
