Leftist Dark Money Giant Shuts Down, Gets Absorbed By New Group

A new public benefit corporation acquired left-wing dark money group Arabella Advisors’ financial sponsorship arm, with the group itself “ceasing operations,” the organization announced Monday.

The corporation, Sunflower Services, is taking over the pro-Democrat funding apparatus with financial support from left-leaning groups New Venture Fund, Windward Fund and Hopewell Fund, a press release says. The move amounts to a major restructuring for Arabella Advisors after billionaire Bill Gates cut off grants to the group.

The philanthropy giant’s “work will continue seamlessly” under the new framework, Sunflower Services CEO Allan Williams said. “Our operation is built to last, and one that is grounded in our shared values and long-term vision.”

Arabella Advisors managed a network of organizations’ finances to support left-leaning causes, as well as groups focused on registering voters, the Daily Caller News Foundation previously reported. The Arabella network also heavily bankrolled left-leaning activist organizations designed to look like local grassroots movements.

Two groups in the Arabella network are tied to a PAC leading efforts to unseat Republican Tennessee Rep. Mark Green in a Dec. 2 special election, the Daily Caller reported.

Arabella Advisors previously funded research targeting online conservative-leaning speech as “misinformation” and suggesting censorship as a solution — before such projects fell out of favor under the Trump administration.

Sunflower Services will now provide services to New Venture Fund, Hopewell Fund, Windward Fund “and several other nonprofit projects and organizations,” according to the press release.

“We’re investing in Sunflower because we believe that when social justice organizations have world-class infrastructure, they can focus their energy where it belongs — on building power and creating change,” Hopewell Fund President Anna Brower said.
