White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles said on “The Mom View” Monday that President Donald Trump will campaign as aggressively in the 2026 midterms as he did during the 2024 presidential election.
Trump is planning a year-long national tour touting his economic agenda, a White House official confirmed to the Daily Caller on Thursday. Wiles said on the podcast, which was recorded in November, that presidents usually avoid deep involvement in the midterms, but Trump’s campaigning could be crucial to maintaining a Republican Senate majority.

“He’s going to have a fun next year, but we’re going to put him on the campaign trail, too … typically, in the midterms, it’s not about who’s sitting at the White House,” Wiles said. “You localize the election and you and you keep the federal officials out of it. We’re actually going to turn that on its head and put him on the ballot. Because so many of those low propensity voters are Trump voters. And we saw a week ago Tuesday what happens when he’s not on the ballot and not active.”
“So, I haven’t quite broken it to him yet, but he’s going to campaign like it’s 2024 again for all these people that he helps. He doesn’t help everybody, but for those he does, he’s a difference-maker and he’s certainly a turnout machine,” she continued. “So, the midterms will be very important to us. He’ll work very hard to keep the majority in the Senate.”
As of Nov. 25, Trump had increased his foreign travel but significantly decreased his domestic travel compared to the same time period of his first term, according to a New York Times analysis.
Following the November 2025 elections, affordability has become a central campaign theme for Democrats, while the GOP works on its own strategy to address the issue. Deputy Chief of Staff James Blair told Politico on Nov. 5 that the GOP will also make affordability a priority for the midterms.
Trump’s tour will commence on Tuesday in Pennsylvania, a White House official told the Caller.
Trump called the word “affordability” a “Democrat scam” during a Tuesday cabinet meeting.
“I think they are getting fake news from guys like you. Affordability is a hoax. It was started by Democrats, who caused the problems of pricing. And they did not end it,” the president told a Fox Business reporter before asserting he was elected because affordability was a problem under his predecessor.
“So we are bringing prices down. Way down. Beef is coming down now. We have done certain magic. Beef is coming down. We inherited horrible prices,” he said. “We inherited really the worst, again, the worst inflation in history. We inherited that. When I came in, that was what he had and we fixed inflation.”
