ICE arrests more than 200 illegal aliens during 1 week of Maine operation

PORTLAND, Maine — ICE officers arrested more than 200 illegal alien offenders during less than one week of targeted immigration enforcement operations throughout the state of Maine. The operation that targeted egregious criminal alien offenders, netted ICE officers 206 arrests between January 20 and January 24.

“The early success of this operation displays how effectively ICE officers can operate anywhere and in any environment,” said ICE Deputy Assistant Director Patricia Hyde. “Our officers arrested more than 200 alien offenders in less than a week despite the organized efforts from activist groups, radical politicians and protestors to thwart our activities. ICE will not be deterred from enforcing U.S. immigration law.”

On a few occasions, ICE officers were forced to pull away from criminal alien targets because of activists alerting the public to unmarked ICE vehicles. One such target was a known drug trafficker.

ICE officers are currently operating in an environment where there have been a more than 1,300% increase in assaults on officers and a more than 8000% increase in threats against officers.

Members of the public can report crimes and suspicious activity by dialing 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or completing the online tip form.
