Can We Forgive Our Past, And Celebrate Our Progress

It is a tremendous waste of time to dwell on the cultures and traditions of the past and try to monetize them into reparations that will make you feel atoned. How far back shall we go? Are biblical times sufficient where we can feel horrified that our ancestors sacrificed humans in the hope of satisfying their supreme beings? Can we even call people who walked the Middle East 2000 years ago ancestors? I certainly do not think of Noah as a long-lost uncle who I hope would have had room for me on his boat. Go back and read about any culture anywhere on the globe, and you will find evidence of slavery, but show me one country that lost 700,000 citizens fighting each other to abolish it? Were Black slaves used to build this great country? Absolutely, but so were the Irish and Italians, who many looked down upon as inferior but not as slaves because they were not black. What country can you point to that has accomplished more for the advancement of Blacks and Browns than the United States, so please put a lid on your call for reparations. My ancestors did not own slaves and were members of the group known as WOPs when they reached Ellis Island, so forgive me if I do not believe I owe back wages to any group of people.

Were there Native Americans living in North America when we supposedly discovered the continent? Absolutely, but it is amazing how we give ourselves credit for finding the New Land, when, in fact, we crashed through its borders, not unlike the 15-20 million who did so when invited by Joe and Kamala. Things have changed in 400 years,
and we tend to covet our land more forcefully than the Indians did. Is one generation more correct than the other? That is a question above my pay grade. I can have an opinion, as can we all, but I do not choose to put on my formal attire and announce my opinion to the masses. What purpose does it serve for a host or hostess of an awards show for the elite to announce that they are celebrating an event with our security guards and limos waiting to take us home to our gated homes to declare who lived on the lot of land 400 years ago? Are any of these hypocritical elites willing to give their gate code to a family of Sioux indians so they could use the pool and smoker? I think not, but for a few seconds, and only to their equally self-serving elites, they sound so virtuous, if not totally phony. I can almost guarantee that should you dare go to the front door of one of these celebrities’ homes and ring the bell, a person of color, probably dressed in the appropriate staff uniform, will greet you. They may not be enslaved, but I bet they are working for less than minimum wage.

To bottom-line this message, can the B.S. We have had a Black President and a Black Female Vice President. We have a female Senator who swears her ancestors lived in tents and smoked the peace pipe. We have a Black female Congresswomen from Somalia who now represent the fine people of her district, who helps her steal millions from the very people who allowed her to both serve and steal from them. Do we do everything right? Heck, no, we are still learning and evolving, but few groups that can point to the United States and say they were denied a fair shot at success despite the color of their skin or the history of their last name.
