Iranian Strike Which Killed Three Americans Reportedly Received Chinese Boost

Chinese entities reportedly aided Iran in a recent lethal attack against American service members stationed in the region.

Iran obtained high-resolution satellite imagery from Chinese entities before launching a July 17 strike which killed three American service members and injured four others at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing U.S. officials familiar with the details.

“As a matter of practice, we do not comment on intelligence-related matters,” a War Department official told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington and the U.S. Department of State did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s requests for comment.

The unnamed officials described the development as the strongest evidence of Chinese involvement in conflict between the U.S. and Iran, they did not accuse the Chinese government of being directly involved and declined to identify the suppliers, according to the outlet.

Senior American officials reportedly flagged the findings to their Chinese counterparts; however, Chinese officials denied the allegations while demanding evidence.

The U.S. in May 2026 sanctioned multiple individuals and entities based in China and the Middle East for allegedly helping Iran obtain sensitive satellite imagery.

The report comes ahead of President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Sept. 24 summit meeting at the White House. China threatened to cancel the summit if the U.S. approves additional arms sales to Taiwan, Kyodo News reported Saturday.

Russia, another partner with Iran at odds with the U.S., similarly provided the Islamic regime with assistance to help target American military assets in the region, The Associated Press, citing two U.S. officials familiar with key intelligence, reported in March.
