SCOTUS Should Be Immune to T.D.S.

We can all agree on one fact, regardless of political leaning: Washington is broken. Nearly every facet of our government is maximizing its ineptitude, inefficiency, or simply not working at all. Amazingly, we are in as good a place as we are, which tells me the country is on autopilot and doesn’t really need the multiple levels of redundancy that permeate D.C. Our last hope is the Supreme Court. We held out hope that this small group of the greatest Constitutional minds could put on their Sunday-best black gown, set aside political beliefs and loyalties, and make the best decision for the American people. We set the bar too high and set ourselves up for disappointment.

The Supreme Court is where America’s most difficult questions are brought to be answered. Some, like the right to an abortion, the right to speak freely, and even whether the congressional lines were drawn fairly, are questions worthy of Supreme Court consideration. Still, some questions are too obvious to waste the Court’s time. The decision about who is a citizen and whether our broken system has allowed non-citizens to vote should not reach the top step of the highest Court in the land, but alas, it has. There should be no question about who is or is not a citizen, and if the lower courts play games with the question to be influencers rather than judges, then they should be slapped with a 9-0 decision. But that is too much to ask, and it seems the same robed people who can not define a woman cannot determine a citizen. This may be sad and hard to believe, but it is our reality.

The right to vote and decide who will lead this land should be the pinnacle of rights and protected with all of our might. The Trump Administration is working tirelessly to uncover fraud, and that shouldn’t be limited to the country’s finances. People who are not citizens and interfere in our elections by falsifying their status should not be protected and should be penalized and held responsible for their actions to commit fraud. As should the legislatures and government officials who facilitate the opportunity for illegals to game our system.

The debate over Voter ID is over, and over 80% of Americans have made it clear they want safeguards for their right to vote; presenting a valid ID at the polls is a step in that direction. Democrats are defying the will of the people and doing whatever they can to prevent shoring up voting integrity, which has brought us to the point of having the High Court step in. What should have been a 9-0 slam dunk returned the all-too-familiar 6-3 vote, with the three liberal female justices proving once again that common sense is dead, and that T.D.S. permeates every cell of our existence, and the three would rather be partisan than right.

The Democrats want to expand the Court to 13 or 15 justices if they regain power. They feel that by adding 6 liberal justices, they will own the Court for a generation, and they are correct, and we cannot let it happen. When you cast your vote in November, think of the three liberal justices defying logic, and picture what 6 more could do.
