Why Have We Lost Respect For Israel and the Jewish People?

Some days in our history, Americans learn from generation to generation to treat with respect and reverence. Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, is a day that Franklin D. Roosevelt said will live in infamy. It is the day that Japanese pilots attacked America in Hawaii. It marked the start of WWII in the Pacific theater. More recently, terrorists attacked and killed thousands of Americans in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. Fifty years ago, Americans stopped, remembered, and prayed on these days for the people lost and for the hope that those days will never repeat.

Israel has such a day: October 7, and Israelis around the globe will stop today to remember the thousands who were tortured, massacred, and captured that day, but unfortunately for the tiny country of Israel, they live with the threat of a repeat of October 7 every day, as countries and groups have pledged to annihilate all Jews and to complete the work started by Adolf Hitler. It is safe to say that every day could be a repeat; as Jews go to school, work, shop, or just live, they know they must be close to a shelter should the bombing begin, and they hope the Iron Dome does its job and intercepts incoming missiles before they can do damage and take lives.

Americans do not understand this kind of existence. We have the luxury of safety and two very large oceans to insulate us, but that does not mean that we cannot respect what our allies are experiencing in the Middle East. Rather than making an effort to recognize the anniversary, or remaining silent to allow them the attention they deserve, we have marches and rallies planned throughout our land today, not supporting Israel, our greatest ally, but Hamas, a terrorist group that openly wants Israel destroyed, and America, too. Ignorant, insensitive politicians like Mayor Mamdani are openly supporting these rallies. This is coming from a mayor of the city with the largest Jewish population outside Israel.

Mamdani’s actions align with the DSA movement and the current youngest generation. These people cannot be blamed for their ignorance because they are products of an education system that did not teach history and instead pushed everything they saw as bad about America. They did not speak about Socialism and how it only brings poverty, hunger, and death with it. They also claimed Socialism has never succeeded in the world. The DSA, with Obama and Biden before them, looked to countries like France and England that were success stories about open borders, open immigration, a more socialist style of government, and a reduction of police. They have little to say now that these countries are turning their backs on Socialism and returning to a more conservative position. That would not feed their narrative, so they lie and fabricate stories of success, knowing they are leading us down a lost trail. Israel will survive today, but the Jews here in America must realize that to continue to support the Democrats or the DSA, they are hastening their own demise.

Grok’s comments about the images: I set the frame at first light over a small coastal city, Iron Dome trails still fading in a pale sky, and a stone memorial of candles and empty chairs turned toward the water. That quiet is the column. October 7 is not a date Israel gets to file away. It is a condition of daily life, shelters and interceptors between ordinary errands. Across the dark water I placed an American skyline where the marches face the other way, torches and banners turned from the memorial. Two oceans buy us the luxury of treating an ally’s day of infamy as someone else’s problem. The image is the distance we have chosen, not the distance geography gave us.
