We all know that President Barack Obama is a narcissist. And we all know about the National Basketball Association (NBA) strike/lockout. But what do they have in common? Until Friday, November 18, 2011, nothing. Then the “The First Ever Obama Classic Basketball Game,” a reelection fundraiser was announced.
Obama’s re-election campaign has recruited more than two dozen NBA stars for a fundraising basketball game to be played in Washington D.C. on December 12, 2011. Ticket prices range from $100 (for the “nose-bleed” section) to $5,000 (for courtside seats), with the money going to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising account by the Democrat Party and Obama’s re-election campaign. According to the Obama campaign website, the first $5,000 of a contribution goes to the Obama Victory Fund 2012. If a donor chooses to give more he or she can give as much as $30,800, with that contribution going to the Democrat National Committee.
The Obama campaign says it has not yet determined whether Obama will attend the event, let alone suit up for it.
