Weak Senate Votes Down Minimal Food Stamp Cuts

Americans are speaking out demanding that the excessive spending be stopped. But is Congress hearing?

Under the Obama administration the Food Stamp program (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) has skyrocketed with 44 million now receiving assistance. A proposed amendment by Senator Jeff Sessions giving a modest cut to the program was voted down by the Democratic Senate. The amendment was hoped to add financial eligibility to the program (28 states currently have no limit on financial assets for those receiving assistance) and to stop the bonuses paid by some states used to increase enrollment.
