2016 Presidential Debate Schedule

Beginning in late September, there will be three presidential debates and one vice-presidential debate.

All three will be 90 minute events in either a traditional debate format or a town hall.

How to Watch the 2016 Presidential Debates

Television:

All four events will be broadcast live on:

  • C-SPAN
  • ABC
  • CBS
  • FOX
  • NBC
  • CNN
  • Fox News
  • MSNBC

Web Video:

Any events with live streams available will be shown on CDN on the 2016 Election Page.

After the events, full videos will be posted under the 2016 Presidential Election archive.


2016 Presidential Debate Formats and Schedule

Monday, September 26, 2016 – Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY – 9pm-10:30pm Eastern

The debate will consist of six 15 minute segments. Each segment will be focused on a single topic. The moderator will open the topic with a question, give each candidate 2 minutes to respond and then the candidates may engage each other.


Sunday, October 9, 2016 – Washington University, St. Louis, MO – 9pm-10:30pm Eastern

This event will be held in the town hall format. Half of the questions will be offered by audience members and the other half will be asked by the moderator. Audience members will be uncommitted voters chosen randomly by Gallup.


Wednesday, October 19, 2016 – University of Nevada – Las Vegas, NV – 9pm-10:30pm Eastern

The third debate will use a format identical to the first.
