Previous models had tropical wave invest 99-l headed straight for Florida, but recent changes show that the weather system may end up in the Gulf of Mexico instead.
On Wednesday, prediction models said that Invest 99-L (what does Invest 99-L mean) would head for Florida and have a 60% chance of strengthening to tropical depression or stronger status.
Things have changed a bit in the last 24 hours.
Now, Invest 99-L is projected to likely head more westerly into the Gulf of Mexico and the National Weather Service places the chance of the system increasing to tropical strength as less than 50%.
It is important to understand that these computer models are more effective at tracking the weather than predicting its intensity. As the models have struggled to predict even the track, the intensity of Invest 99-L is greatly in question.
Please stay alert and plan accordingly if you are in the probable path of this storm.
