Trump’s electoral troubles continue as August comes to a close

With just over a week left in August, Trump’s road to the Whitehouse is looking rough.

National polling data is just about worthless because the United States doesn’t elect its president in a true national election. Instead, each state decides how many of its electoral votes should go to win the presidency. CDN is using recent state polling data to show how the election would go if it were held right now – and it’s not a good map for trump.

Based on August polling data from key states, here’s what the results would be if America voted today (it takes 270 electoral votes to win the election):

We decided to favor Trump in some states that would usually be toss-ups with current polling numbers:

• We gave Trump Georgia even though current polls show Donald and Hillary tied
• We gave Trump Florida even though current polls show Clinton up by 9
• We gave Trump Ohio even though current polls show Clinton up by 6

Even with those questionable ‘gimme’s’, Trump is in trouble.

Donald needs to win the gimme states we awarded him -AND- take either:

• Pennsylvania
• North Carolina and either New Mexico or New Hampshire

The map isn’t looking good for Donald, but perhaps that’s why he’s chosen to shake-up his campaign staff and focus his message.
