One gunman began shooting people just before 1:00 pm Friday at a Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport baggage claim killing several and injuring 8 more.
Reports say that Esteban Santiago entered the terminal 2 baggage claim, pulled a gun out of his own checked luggage and just began shooting people at random. Five people have been confirmed dead with another 8 hospitalized.
Santiago reloaded his firearm three times before surrendering to authorities.
Shortly after taking Esteban into custody, a report of more shots fired and a second active shooter situation was declared in the terminal 2 parking garage, but that report was later proven false.
Ft. Lauderdale Hollywood Airport then closed the entire airport and it will remain closed until Saturday morning.
A firearm was photographed on the floor of the baggage terminal and may be the firearm Santiago used to shoot 13 people.
