Former NFL Star Turned Vicious Thug Acquitted of Double Murder

Disgraced former NFL star tight end Aaron Hernandez finally caught a break on Friday when he was acquitted of a 2012 double murder in a fracas over a spilled drink.

Hernandez served as one of Tom Brady’s top targets when the New England Patriots fielded a potent two tight end offense with the versatile former Florida Gator lining up all over the field. He had just scored a huge contract including a record $12.5 million signing bonus which was the largest ever given to an NFL tight end shortly before his legal problems began.

Following the 2012 season a different picture began to emerge of a troubled young man with a very dark past and his NFL career quickly came to an end after he was arrested for murder.

Yahoo News reports “Aaron Hernandez found not guilty of double murder”:

In the end, a Suffolk County jury simply couldn’t buy the entire story that Alexander Bradley, the compromised star witness for the prosecution, was spinning.

So they found Aaron Hernandez not guilty on Friday of murdering Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado in a 2012 drive-by shooting in Boston’s Theatre District. The jury deliberated for 37 and a half hours, spread out over six days.

As the not-guilty verdict was read, some family members of de Abreu and Furtado rushed out of the courtroom in tears. Hernandez’s fiancé, Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, who only days earlier arrived in court with the couple’s 4-year-old daughter, sobbed.

“We based our decision on the evidence and the law,” foreperson Lindsey Stringer said in a brief statement.

While the Friday verdict was great news for Hernandez. the downside is that he is already serving a life sentence for a different murder. In 2013 the gangsta in the Patriots locker room busted a cap into former semi-pro football player and marijuana purveyor Odin Lloyd aka the Bluntmaster.

Hernandez was convicted of the killing in 2015 and sentenced to life in prison without parole, a damned good place for a violent fiend like him.

While be beat the rap in the double murder it’s unlikely that he will ever see a professional football field anywhere other than on television again.
