OMB Director Mick Mulvaney discusses lifting of hiring freeze

Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney told Fox & Friends about ‘surgical reductions’ in the federal workforce that are replacing the full moratorium on federal hiring.

Mulvaney said that the initial hiring freeze is common when a new management team takes over so that they can get an understanding of the landscape and formulate a hiring plan that matches the president’s strategy.

“Some folks are going to be able to hire back especially in areas where the president has priorities and wants to do more,” Mulvaney said adding, “in other areas where he wants to do less, which is a lot of the federal government, we’re going to have these more strategic, surgical reductions in the workforce.”
