When Did America Get Tossed Upside Down?

A few decades ago, America’s moral compass was more clearly defined. There was no polarizing Yes-No, Black-and-White thinking on every meaningless topic, and the line between right and wrong was much more clearly defined. Most people understood reality and had a modicum of common sense. There certainly was no TDS where the Right saw red, and the Left swore it was blue. These were the good old days when politicians still had a scintilla of decency, and all looked upon America as a beacon on the hill. Oh, how those days are a fleeting memory for us baby boomers. The youngins were taught a whole new game as they grew up, and like that incredibly funny Seinfeld episode, “The Bizarro Jerry,” America has entered the Bizarro World where up is down and good is evil. The only problem is that we are not living in a 30-minute sitcom. This is our new reality, and for many of us, this is a tough pill to swallow.

I put together a list of radical policies adopted by various states, as well as the planks of the new Democratic Socialist platform. I thought that by seeing the whole picture, we could understand how far off the tracks this train has veered.

• 10 states now allow abortions up until the moment of birth
• 13 states allow juveniles to obtain an abortion without parental consent
• 19 states allow sex change surgery for minors
• 17 of those states allow procedures to be performed on minors without parental consent
• 4 states have proclaimed immunity to Somali refugees involved in safety net fraud schemes
• 12 states plus D.C. are declared as sanctuary states
• 5 states plus D.C. have adopted Cash-less bail
• Illinois has abolished bail altogether, and nearly anyone arrested is immediately released
• 21 states issue SNAP benefits to illegal aliens
• 22 states refuse to share voter data with the federal government
• 14 states have laws prohibiting Voter ID

As if that list were not radical enough, these are some of the beliefs of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)

Governance and Democratic Reforms

• Government Overhaul: Abolish the U.S. Senate and the Electoral College, and replace the presidency and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary subordinate to Congress.
• Electoral Reform: Publicly finance all elections, ban corporate lobbyists and dark money, and transition the U.S. to a multi-party proportional representation system.
• Foreign Policy: Pursue an anti-imperialist foreign policy by heavily cutting the defense budget and closing overseas military bases.

Economic and Labor Policies

• Public Ownership: Establish public ownership or democratic control of major corporations and essential industries.
• Healthcare: Enact a single-payer, universal “Medicare for All” system at no cost to individuals.
• Labor Rights: Mandate a 32-hour workweek with full pay and benefits, establish a federal jobs guarantee, raise the minimum wage, and strengthen labor unions.
• Education and Debt: Provide free public education from pre-K through college and cancel all student loan debt.
• Taxation: Implement aggressive federal wealth and corporate taxes to fund public goods and infrastructure.

Social and Environmental Policies

• Climate Action: Pass a comprehensive “Green New Deal” to transition to renewable energy and create green jobs.
• Housing: Treat housing as a human right through universal rent control and major expansions of social housing.
• Criminal Justice: Downsize or abolish the traditional policing and prison systems, and eliminate Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
• Immigration: Grant full amnesty and voting rights to undocumented and permanent residents.

The new generation of leaders basically wants to tear up the Constitution and Bill of Rights. They want to replace capitalism and our Constitutional Republic with a Socialist model. They want free groceries, free transportation, free child care, free healthcare, and free college education. The only thing I have not heard is what the new country will be called, because America will cease to exist.

This is not some down-the-road plan or the product of a college classroom. This is the new thinking and beliefs of people who are winning elections today. These are the bizarre thoughts of a small but fast-growing movement that is hell-bent on tearing down America because it is a corrupt country that was built by slaves and continues to utilize the middle and lower class as slaves for the wealthy. The land of opportunity that has raised millions out of poverty to prosperity is nothing but an oppressive sham to the new Progressives. If we who love this country do not wake up to this threat at our front door, we will wake to a new reality that none of us will recognize.
