Trump administration to issue fraud resistant green cards

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said Wednesday that the department would soon issue a new, more secure and fraud resistant green card.

Beginning May 1st, USCIS will issue green cards and work authorization documents with “enhanced graphics and fraud-resistant security features.”

“Green cards” are government-issued identification cards that allow the carrying resident alien to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis.

Employment Authorization Documents (EAD) are commonly known as “work permits” and authorize the holder to temporarily work in the United States.

The changes are focused on making it less appealing for illegal aliens to come to the United States by adding to the virtual wall that the Trump administration has been building between Latin America and the U.S.

While the new documents begin issuance on May 1, green cards and EAD’s will remain in effect until their expiration dates.
