Bill O’Reilly promotes new online show

Fox News Host Bill O’Reilly has decided to publish a 30-minute online show for his readers to critique.

The initial half-hour was posted on his website Wednesday for premium subscribers, originating from what he called a “new prototype studio.” He requested input from viewers for what he characterized as a “sneak preview.”

After a short trial period, O’Reilly said he may make the show available to non-subscribers as well, but without a headline network, the move may largely be disregarded.

While O’Reilly has a loyal fan base, he is now nearly invisible. Online streaming news shows have never pulled the weight of the news networks and are not closing in anytime soon.

O’Reilly was dismissed from Fox in April and has since promoted his brand through social media, his website and a PR campaign. This show may be a way to sell a new format to one of the networks.

While Bill’s fans hope he grows this into something meaningful and long lasting, it is more likely that he’ll need a major network to change his fortune.
