Signs that President Donald Trump really struck a nerve with his epic condemnation of NFL players protesting the national anthem are beginning to manifest themselves within the league’s ownership class.
Following a day of scorn, Trump upped the ante with yet another series of tweets on Sunday morning imploring fans to stay away from the games until the NFL does something about the growing anti-Americanism that has become so pervasive. A virulent strain of hatred of country that Commissioner Roger Goodell put his seal of approval on it during a chaotic day yesterday.
That was the one that scared the living hell out of the owners because thanks to their boy Roger Goodell, this thing has now spun way out of control and needs to be stopped before his incompetence kills the goose that laid the golden egg.
A few owners spoke out yesterday – hypocrites who wanted nothing to do with Kaepernick – but a really big gun who has enormous clout just went on record and it is the epitome of irony.
New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft just sided with the unpatriotic militants in a statement released by the team in which he also denounced Trump.
Kraft’s two cents are definitive proof that the league is terrified that plummeting ratings will now pick up velocity as more people tune out now that top NFL officials and owners have made it clear that they are only interested in money and neither the quality of play nor the league’s image.
So, to all of you Patriots fans, you may want to reconsider your loyalty to both the team and the league because neither of them are remotely interested in patriotism.
With Kraft now onboard in the counterattack on Trump, the NFL will be going to war and bending over backwards to accommodate the national anthem protesters who have hijacked and poisoned the game.
Trump, however, has an ace in the hole when it comes to the NFL, he can order the Justice Department to start enforcing antitrust laws.
Nice monopoly you got there guys, wanna keep it?
