Sessions announces end of DACA [video]

Attorney General Jeff Sessions, at the order of President Donald Trump, announced Tuesday that the unconstitutional Deferred Action for Child Arrivals program will be rescinded.

DACA was facing mounting legal challenges as 10 states Attorneys General had intended to file suit Tuesday. The suits were likely to succeed as DAPA, another Obama executive action aimed at illegal aliens who were parents, was cut down by the Supreme Court as unconstitutional.

Where did DACA come from?

DACA was enacted through executive action by former President Barack Obama in June of 2012 and even he admitted that the move was unconstitutional and likely to fail.

October 2010:

“My cabinet has been working very hard on trying to get it done, but ultimately, I think somebody said the other day, I am president, I am not king,” Obama told Univision in October 2010, when asked why he had yet to achieve comprehensive immigration reform.

March 2011:

“There are enough laws on the books by Congress that are very clear in terms of how we have to enforce our immigration system,” Obama said. “for me to simply, through executive order, ignore those congressional mandates would not conform with my appropriate role as President.”

Obama did enact immigration law through executive action twice. DAPA has already been shot down by the Supreme Court and DACA was set to follow in its footsteps.

Why did Trump decide to end DACA

By the Trump administration stepping in and outlining an orderly process through which DACA will be dismantled, it gives Congress six months to reform America’s broken immigration system and strengthen border security.

The Left has begun protests and fiery speeches against Trump’s action, but had he not taken it, DACA would have died a quick death at the hand of the judiciary. That would have immediately rescinded DACA recipients protected status and made them deportable.

What does Obama have to say about the end of DACA

Using social media, Obama voiced his displeasure with Trump’s decision to end DACA while allowing Congress to craft appropriate and responsible immigration reform.
